Summer Camps for Orphans
For most children, summertime means swimming, sleepovers, and fun with friends.
Through these experiences, children benefit from physical exercise, social development and memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
With the grace of God, Light for Orphans is able to offer orphans and vulnerable children the same, enriching summer experience as other children.
Summer Camp – Fayed, Egypt
In 2011, over 1,000 children, ages 9-12, participated in a summer camp designed especially for them. Fourteen, 4-day/3-night camps were held throughout the summer, with each camp having 100 children and 20 volunteer servants.
In addition to having fun in the sun and at the pool, children received nutritional meals and attended workshops which addressed spiritual, educational, and behavioral issues.
Although most children came without an additional change of clothes , upon arrival, each child received a handbag containing:
- - soap
- - toothbrush and toothpaste
- - two sets of undergarments
- - a swimsuit
- - a t-shirt
- - a pair of shorts
